What You Need to Know About Overdraft Protection

We understand that managing your finances can sometimes feel like walking a tightrope. That's why we offer Standard Overdraft Services to help keep you covered when unexpected expenses arise and also Courtesy Pay when things don't go as planned.   But let's dive into the specifics of how it works:

What is an Overdraft?
An overdraft happens when you make a transaction that exceeds the available balance in your account. Don't worry, though — we've got your back.

What is a Standard Overdraft Service?
Overdraft protection is a service that prevents a bank account from being charged when there aren't enough funds in the account.

Overdraft protection works by using funds from a linked account to cover transactions that would otherwise overdraw the checking account. For example, a checking account could be linked to a savings account, and if there isn't enough money in the checking account to cover a transaction, the funds would be automatically moved from the savings account.

What is Courtesy Pay?
is a service that allows a checking account holder to pay for items that exceed their checking account balance, up to a certain limit, for a fee. It acts as a safety net when overdraft protection is unavailable or insufficient, helping you avoid declined transactions.

How We Cover Your Overdrafts

1. Standard Overdraft Service
Consider this your account's built-in safety net. Available funds are transferred from your share savings or other deposit accounts to cover overdrafts. No need to enroll — it's automatic.

2. Line of Credit
Think of this as a safety net attached to your account. When you dip below zero, funds are transferred from your other account (must have $100 available) to cover the difference.* You'll only pay finance charges on the borrowed amount, plus any transfer fees.

3. Courtesy Pay
Life doesn't always go as planned, and sometimes you need a little extra help. That's where Courtesy Pay comes in. For a nominal fee per transaction, we'll cover checks, ACH, ATM, and other electronic transfers when you're short on funds. The program extends up to $500.00 for non-sufficient funds.
